Got Questions?

A Melting Pot of Deliciousness

Australia’s culinary scene is bustling with new hatted restaurants popping up all the time and with local produce, livestock and seafood, always the star of the show. Regional restaurants and crafters are also right on the heels of urban food joints and crafty nightlife hotspots, with coastal and countryside venues showcasing their locally grown,  seasonal menus.

Australia’s proximity to southeast Asia means many restaurants have an Asian fusion vibe. Also, the extensive migration to Australia from Europe following WWII, has also led to a diverse European food  influence. Melbourne is a prime example of Australia’s multiculturalism. With a renowned Italian-esque coffee scene, the largest Greek community outside Athens, a cheap and cheerfully delicious Chinatown, as well as an extensive range of British gastro-pub fare,  Melbourne can satisfy even the fussiest of eaters and accommodate any budget, given the array of cheap to three hatted, high-end eating options on offer.

Native Fare

Bush foods are colloquially and affectionately called ‘bush tucker’ to refer to any flora or fauna, or ingredient native to Australia. Hunter-gatherer and bush tucker ways of First Nation’s people are experiencing a much deserved and inspired revival in Australia’s food scene. Native food tours and restaurants are some of the most unique and intimate ways to experience Australian culture.

Beyond food, Australia is also gaining a global reputation with its 65 wine regions and a craft brewing and distilling boom. Most of the wine regions are within easy reach of the major cities, and the more remote ones are always worth travelling the extra mile for, given their warm and welcoming atmosphere.
